Joining the Development Effort
"I mean, if 10 years from now, when you are doing something quick and
dirty, you suddenly visualize that I am looking over your shoulders and
say to yourself, 'Dijkstra would not have liked this', well that would
be enough immortality for me" --Edsger Dijkstra
If you want to help develop Fresco, then you'll first need to get the CVS version running; make sure you have the Dependencies installed, and then read how to get started on the Installing page. Once you have that, then you can either read over some of the Docs to get a feel for the project (especially recommended is the architectural overview), or just dive right in with something off the Tasklist, doing Code Review, or fixing Bugs. In any case, you'll want to subscribe to one or more Mailing Lists, (Fresco-design is the main one), and hanging out on IRC with the developers is one of the best ways to get up to speed (not that this is a substitute for reading the increasingly detailed documentation).
